a troubleshooting guide for DFInstagram

I can't find the settings menu!

The latest versions of the app needed to put the settings menu in a different place, due to changes in instagrams' code under the hood. To access settings:

> Go to your profile tab

> Long press on the three-bar button at the top right of the screen.

I can't install any version later than 1.1.1

Google recently stopped supporting 32-bit applications. This meant that we needed to update the application from the old 32-bit version to 64-bit so that it could work with newer phones.

Alternatively, you might have a phone that uses an x86 processing architecture rather than an ARM architecture. We only support ARM architectures because they account for the great bulk of the smartphone market, and maintaining separate versions would be too much work for our small team.

Check this tutorial to find out the processor architecture of your phone.

I get an error saying 'Application appears to be invalid'

Have you made sure that you uninstalled the original instagram app first? If you already have dfinstagram installed, try uninstalling it then reinstalling the newer version.

I get the error SecurityException: Access denied. Caller is not trusted: TrustedCallerInfo

This is due to the facebook appmanager, which is installed on some phones. Instagram communicates with the facebook app manager, which verifies whether the app has been modified (it has been) and will throw an error. The fix is to go to your android applications and uninstall com.facebook.appmanager

Whats the difference between the original and the clone versions?

The original version appears to your phone as the authentic instagram app. The clone version appears to your phone as an app with a different name. The clone version can be installed alongside the authentic instagram app, and is useful for people with phones that have instagram preinstalled on their phone which can't be uninstalled.
